The Chicago Bears are Playoff Bound! Just a day after an incredible overtime victory against the Packers, the Bears have secured their spot in the 2025 postseason! This is huge news for fans, and it all unfolded quickly.
On Sunday, the Bears clinched their playoff berth thanks to the Lions' loss to the Steelers, with a final score of 29-24. This means the Bears are guaranteed a spot, either as the NFC North champions or one of the three wild card teams.
Following their thrilling win on Saturday night, the Bears now boast an impressive record of 11-4. They've also widened their lead in the division, now holding a game-and-a-half advantage over the Green Bay Packers, who are at 9-5-1.
How can the Bears win the NFC North? They can secure the division title by winning either of their remaining two games, which are against San Francisco and Detroit. Even if they lose both games, they'll still win the division if the Packers lose just one of their final two games against Baltimore or Minnesota.
The NFC Playoff Picture: All three wild card spots will come from the NFC North and NFC West. This means six teams are vying for only five spots (two division champions and three wild cards). The teams in contention are:
- NFC North: Bears (11-4), Packers (9-5-1), and Lions (8-7)
- NFC West: Seahawks (12-3), Rams (11-4), and 49ers (10-4)
Currently, the Bears are the No. 2 seed in the NFC, trailing only the Seahawks, who are at 12-3. The Eagles, who have clinched the NFC East, hold the No. 3 seed. The Bears hold the tiebreaker over Philadelphia due to their 24-15 win on November 28th. The No. 4 seed will go to the winner of the NFC South, either the Panthers (8-7) or the Buccaneers (7-8).
Remember that epic comeback? On Saturday night, the Bears pulled off an amazing rally against the Packers. They were down 16-6 late in the game but managed to score 10 points in the final 1:59 of regulation to tie the score 16-16. They then clinched the win in overtime with Caleb Williams' 46-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore.
This victory was also a sweet revenge, as it avenged their Week 14 loss in Green Bay. It also marked their seventh win in their last eight games.
Coach Ben Johnson's Impact: In his first season as coach, the Bears have turned things around dramatically. After starting the season 0-2, they've gone 9-2. They've also won six games this year after trailing in the final 2:00 of regulation, which is the most in the NFL for 2025 and the most in the franchise's history!
