Bold headline: Emergency crews shut a major road in Sydney’s south-west after a two-vehicle crash. But here’s where it gets controversial: the closure persists for hours, impacting countless drivers and daily routines, and authorities are urging patience while investigations unfold.
Emergency responders are at the scene of a two-car collision on the Old Hume Highway at Camden Bypass, which occurred before 11:30am today. The incident prompted a full closure of the Old Hume Highway in both directions at the Camden Bypass intersection. Traffic is being diverted via Burragorang Road and Cawdor Road, and the right-hand turn from Camden Bypass onto the northbound Old Hume Highway is also shut.
Police say ongoing investigations are expected to take some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
This disruption is likely to continue for an extended period as emergency services and road crews work to secure the scene and determine the cause of the crash.
