Get ready, because Teyana Taylor and Lucky Daye just set The Tonight Show on fire! Fresh off her Golden Globe win for One Battle After Another, Teyana is on a roll, and her first-ever GRAMMY nomination for her album Escape Room is the cherry on top. To prove she deserves all the accolades, she teamed up with the smooth vocals of Lucky Daye to perform their duet, “Hard Part.”
And let me tell you, it was pure drama! The stage was set with a moody atmosphere: Teyana and Lucky sat facing each other in stylish leather chairs, while the band remained in the shadows. A giant clock hung in the background, ticking away as the two stars poured their hearts out, singing about the pain and passion of a relationship gone sour.
They started face-to-face, then their chairs rotated, turning them towards the audience. The platforms then spun again, bringing them back to where they started. That's when Lucky took a knee, and they harmonized on the outro, beautifully incorporating a snippet from Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo’s “Nothing Even Matters.”
But here's where it gets exciting... We'll have to wait until February 1st to see if Teyana snags that GRAMMY. In the meantime, you can watch their incredible performance of “Hard Part” on repeat. Plus, don't miss her interview with Jimmy Fallon, where she gave us the inside scoop on the Escape Room deluxe edition, her upcoming role in The Rip (starring alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck), and a sneak peek of the movie, which hit Netflix on January 16th.
